Do you really have to wake up at 5 am and go for a run or eat out of lunch boxes every day? Do you have to weigh all your meals and count calories? Do you have to train even though you are shattered?
The average person looking to lose a little bit of weight and “tone up” is different when compared to a person who is training to compete in a bodybuilding show or to complete their first triathlon.
The greater the goal the greater the effort that must be given or, the longer the duration of preparation. What does this mean?
If you set your sights high and really want a big change/ accomplishment, you will have to put a lot of effort in or else give yourself a long time to reach your goal.
If you set your sights high and plan to not put in a lot of effort you should expect it to be a long journey.
If you set yourself a short simple goal, you won’t have to put in too much effort compared to a tougher goal. It won’t take as long but it should go without saying the more effort you put in the quicker you will get there.
This should sound commonsensical – you won’t climb Mount Everest if you only put in the effort required to climb the Sugar Loaf!
Take a few moments to plan what you want to do. Set a realistic timeline that coincides with the effort that you can give.
Now you are ready to start!
